Our
History
Performance Polymers has been in the polymer resins business for over
15 years.
Univar purchased the business in June 2000 to compliment their resins
distribution business in Europe (Distrupol).
Univar’s history dates back to 1924 when George Van Waters and
Nat Rogers started a brokerage of sorts, buying and selling naval stores,
paint, raw materials and cotton linters in the Pacific Northwest. The
company quickly moved into the chemical distribution business and grew
throughout the West and into the Eastern United States.
Univar entered the Canadian market in 1950 and Europe in 1991. Univar
USA Inc. is the company’s chemical distribution subsidiary in
the United States. In Canada, operations are known as Univar Canada
Ltd. In Europe, where Univar operates in 14 countries, the company is
known as Univar Europe.
The
parent company, Univar, is a Dutch company listed on the Euronext Amsterdam
stock exchange as UNIVR. The company's registered office is in Rotterdam,
The Netherlands, with offices in Bellevue, Washington in the US and
Bradford, England providing administrative support services.
